From early to advanced disease: international insights for Swiss practice
We are pleased to welcome Prof. Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, a medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, to Switzerland. Prof. Abou-Alfa specialises in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, and leads several international clinical trials in the field. On this occasion, we are organising a 90-minute, CME-accredited, multi-sponsored scientific seminar on HCC.
Around 820 people are diagnosed with liver cancer in Switzerland each year, and metabolic fatty liver disease is becoming an increasingly important cause. At the same time, treatment is changing fast: immunotherapy-based combinations are now standard in advanced disease and are moving into earlier stages, including in combination with locoregional therapies such as TACE. Applying these advances in Swiss practice raises practical questions about patient selection, treatment sequencing and preserving liver function.
The seminar covers the full disease continuum, from early to intermediate and advanced HCC. After a keynote by Prof. Abou-Alfa, Swiss experts will present case-based sessions, each followed by an interactive panel discussion.
